My Mother's Closet and Diane Kruger's Closing Ceremony Cannes Look

It's been months since I've last posted. Since my last post I've graduated college, landed an internship, and have moved back home. Ahh, nothing says success more than having an unpaid internship and being forced to live within the walls of your childhood home. However, there are perks to moving back into your parents' humble abode. Besides free room and board and bus tickets for my morning and evening commute I have the easy access of my mother's closet. And although I can't fit into any of her 1980s/1990s size 4 clothing, her vintage closet makes for great inspiration.

My mother was invited to a charity event that's being held tonight. Having been invited only a couple of days ago she had no time to spear for shopping. Luckily my mom's closet, although modest in size, is filled with little charms. A Burberry skirt, a Dolce and Gabbana dress, Max Mara tops, Anne Fontaine blouses hiden in between her JCrew and Marshalls wardrobe. But lets digress back to Max Mara. While in Florence for one of my father's business trips my mother purchased this Max Mara ivory raw silk, padded shoulder button up shirt jacket with a pair of plaid pants that had an overlay of black chiffon with embroidered large black flowers. She just pulled it out of her closet to try on for tonight's event.

Coincidentally, while I was scoping out the best of the Cannes Film I came across the best dressed woman of Cannes--Diane Kruger. Kruger's Christian Dior dress resembled the pair of vintage pants hanging in my mother's closet! A feminine plaid accented with black flowers.

Kruger took my breath away in this look channeling her inner Grace Kelly proving that Classic Hollywood lives on!
